The Real Review | Halo Range K2 Riesling 2022 Ranked #1 of 50

97 points K2

In a week of humbling reviews, the recognition for our Halo Range K2 Riesling 2022 possibly could mean the most for Ben Cane, Sarah Date, and the team at Duke's Vineyard.

K2 is our first release of our pinnacle expression of riesling named Koolbardi Kard the local indigenous dialect expression for Magpie Hill.

K2, not the highest but definitely the toughest mountain to scale, this represents our long journey across the world to create the very finest expression of the variety we love so much. The first step towards reaching out for our dream, we are so very proud of what has emerged from a year of challenge and adversity. And we are completely rapt that Huon Hooke of The Real Review has found such beauty and detail in this very limited bottling.

#1 ranked of 50 2022 rieslings from the Great Southern

“A hyper-intense fragrant bouquet, lifted dried wildflowers, lemon pith, dry straw and dried herb aromas. The wine is tremendously intense and delicate at the same moment; a wonderful mouthful of Riesling, scintillating freshness and intensity delivered with harmony and great persistence. Mouth-watering acidity and tremendous poise.”

Drink 2024-2037

Barrel fermented, extended aging on lees and aged in bottle one year before release, this is a textural take on our 2022 Magpie Hill Reserve Riesling. A tiny limited production of 111 cases and a handful of magnums, this rare wine is only found on our website in limited allocation.

Special shout out to Scott Kingman (@skingmanproductions) who took this breathtaking shot of something so mundane: our vines under bird netting. Looking like the path to Mordor, it further embodies the journey we are taking and we couldn’t be happier with the complete package.

Because as Duke always says (and we couldn’t agree more), "Life is too short to drink bad wine!"
