Introducing Our Invitational Vineyard Range

Artwork by Emily Jackson
For certain past vintages, Duke Ranson would invite a local winemaker to make an interpretation Duke's Vineyard Magpie Hill estate fruit. These wines were called the 'Invitation Series' and each had a line drawing of the winemaker on the label done by Duke's wife, Hilde.

With owner and winemaker Ben Cane taking the helm as the 'permanent Invitation Winemaker,' we wanted to carry on the tradition by exploring some of the amazing examples of other vineyards and varietals in the Southwest wine regions.

Ben's inaugural Invitational Vineyard range of wines was launched in July 2022, starting with the 'Maleeya' Gewurztraminer from 40-year-old vines in the Chatsfield Vineyard in Mt Barker (WA) and a Frankland River Riesling from the Swinney property.

As a counterbalance to the relatively conservative labels in the founding portfolio, we wanted bright and fun artwork that spoke to the vibrancy of the invited vineyards. So, we commissioned Emily Jackson, an artist based in Margaret River, to visit the regions we would be working with, and we love what she created.

From her original piece, which hangs in the Cellar Door above the tasting bar, we are drawing nine eye-catching labels. Each year that we make a particular wine, we will use the same label but with a different colour or element so that the lineage will be identifiable.

Beautiful wines deserve beautiful labels! Explore the Invitational Range.

The original design and all labels can also be ordered as prints in various sizes.
